The Extrusion Process
In the process of extruding aluminum, the billet is transformed into a shape, called a profile. We have all experienced this process as a child with the famous play dough press. With aluminum the billet must be heated before it can be transformed. A large press forces the heated aluminum through the die. The die is custom made for the process; engineers determine the correct type of die to achieve the desired profile.
